Monthly Kids Competition Training

Preparing Young BJJ Athletes On The Northern Beaches For Success

Here at Trinity Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we believe that competition is about more than just winning medals. Competition is an opportunity for children to develop confidence, discipline and the ability to perform and stay calm under pressure. The skills gained benefit them both on and off the mats.

To help support our young athletes, we are beginning our Monthly Kids Competition Training classes. The sessions are specifically designed for Trinity youth students who are preparing for competitions, or who would like to begin competing in the near future.

Why Competition Training For Kids?

Our regular BJJ classes build the needed fundamentals, confidence and self-defence skills. Regular competition training takes those foundational fundamentals a step further by focusing on the demands of tournament environments for children.

Students will learn how to:

  • Compete with confidence.

  • Develop and execute competition strategies.

  • Improve their stand-up skills and competition takedowns.

  • Build competition fitness and endurance.

  • Understand BJJ scoring and the competition rules.

  • Staying calm under pressure.

  • Learn sportsmanship, and competition etiquette.

The goal is not simply to win at competitions—it’s helping children become better martial artists and better people in society.

The Classes Will Be Small Groups and Individual Coaching.

Unlike most competition camps, our sessions maintain a maximum of: 1 Instructor for every 6 Students

Ensuring every child receives:

  • One on one coaching

  • Personalised feedback

  • Technical corrections

  • Tactical competition advice

  • Close supervision throughout the session

Trinity believes quality coaching is far more valuable for kids than simply having more students on the mats.

Led by Three Black Belts

Each competition session will be taught by three world class experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts, giving students access to the best knowledge available in Jiu Jitsu, also including individual attention throughout the competition training.

Whether your child is preparing for their first tournament or already competing regularly, they'll receive guidance from coaches who understand both the technical and mental aspects of competition.

Curriculum Designed by World Champion Marcelo Gomide

The kids BJJ competition curriculum has been designed by World Champion and seasoned competitor Marcelo Gomide.

Drawing on years of high level and international competition experience, Marcelo has over the years developed a structured program that teaches the skills young BJJ athletes need to perform confidently and with safety in competition.

Each monthly session builds on the previous training, allowing Trinity students to continually improve their competition rediness throughout the year.
